Introducing Erika – our lovely friend and member of our PR team. She clues us in to how she broke into fashion, her favorite aspects of working at one of NYC’s fashion PR firms, and the role it’s played in her personal style.

MW: Tell us a little about yourself and how you got into fashion PR.

Erika: I’ve always had an interest in fashion and being the only girl in my immediate family, some of my favorite times growing up were days spent shopping with my mom and grandma and dressing up for important events.

After graduating college, I landed an internship in fashion PR and quickly became exposed to all aspects of the industry, realizing that this was in fact what I wanted to do.

MW: Did this lead you to your job at LaForce + Stevens?

Erika: Yes! I had always heard of the PR firm LaForce + Stevens and was brought on board after interviewing. I’m currently working as a junior account executive.

MW: What’s the best part about working in fashion PR?

Erika: I love the variety of events that we’re given the opportunity to be involved in as well as the constant interaction with editors and stylists. Each day is different, depending on the time of year and upcoming fashion shows. It always keeps you on your toes.

MW: How has fashion PR influenced your personal style?

Erika: Being constantly on the move, I love clothes that are versatile and can go with everything. Pieces like my Marissa Webb Mallory Vest are my go-to. It adds shape to any outfit and can be thrown on if I’m running into a meeting or going out to dinner after work. I also usually turn to brands that offer classic styles with fun statement twists. Growing up I was a dancer so when I find pieces that flow, like the Marissa Webb Yasmin Skirt, I fall in love.

MW: Thank you for sharing all of this with us! Although, we have to ask, if not fashion PR, what would be your dream job?

Erika: A celebrity personal trainer…in my next life 🙂
